An Android field recorder for filmmakers
Flowphonic is an Android app that records production sound on set: uncompressed WAV, take numbering, spoken markers and a live transcript, with nothing leaving your phone unless you export it.
What it records
In Lossless quality Flowphonic saves 48 kHz, 16-bit PCM WAV, or 32-bit float WAV if you switch it on in Settings. Four smaller AAC tiers (Studio, High, Balanced and Voice Saver) save space on long days. You can record in mono, or in stereo if your input is stereo-capable.
Protection against clipping and missed starts
- Safety track: in Lossless quality, every take also saves a second copy at −12 dB with no limiter. It doubles the storage a take uses.
- Pre-roll: in Lossless quality, the five seconds before you press REC are captured too.
- Input FX: gain, limiter and a low-cut filter work live while you monitor or record (Lossless quality).
- Auto Record: start and stop automatically when the level crosses a threshold, on any quality.
Production workflow
Slate, scene and take numbering work like a production sound recorder. Say “good take” or “cut” while rolling and a marker is dropped for you. Afterwards, scrub with the jog wheel, set in and out points, and save a trim as a new file. Your original take is always kept.
Handing off to your editor
Markers export as Premiere Pro XML, DaVinci Resolve EDL or Final Cut Pro FCPXML. The transcript exports as SRT, and audio can go in the same share. See the marker export guide.
Built for long days
Recording keeps going in the background with an ongoing notification, the screen can dim to save battery, and, if you turn it on, Flowphonic switches Do Not Disturb to priority-only while you record and restores your setting afterward.
Privacy
No account and no cloud backup. Recordings stay on your device unless you export them. Live transcription can use your phone’s online speech service when on-device recognition is unavailable or switched off. See the Privacy Policy.
