32-bit float recording on Android
Flowphonic records Lossless WAV at 48 kHz. Choose 16-bit PCM, or switch on 32-bit float for extra headroom against clipping.
16-bit or 32-bit float
Lossless is Flowphonic’s uncompressed WAV tier. By default it records 48 kHz, 16-bit PCM. In Settings you can switch on 32-bit float, which gives extra headroom, so a loud moment is less likely to clip. Float files are larger than 16-bit files.
Other ways to protect a hot signal
- Safety track: a second copy of each Lossless take at −12 dB with no limiter. If the main track clips, the safety copy usually hasn’t. It doubles the storage a take uses.
- Limiter and low-cut: live input FX in Lossless quality, alongside gain.
Good to know
Real stereo needs a stereo-capable input. Lossless and Studio go up to 48 kHz; the other tiers save AAC (.m4a) at lower sample rates. Device support varies by phone, so test with your own hardware before an important shoot.
